Byron Bales
One of the best-researched and more fascinating books of fiction relating to Southeast Asia is Byron Bales’ The Family Business (2003, ISBN 974-8303-75-6).
Bales is a working private investigator, and his book is replete with little-known tips of the trade, from skip-tracing, to information on how insurance companies investigate and settle claims.
While not specifically within the realm of the Bangkok Fiction genre, much of the action is set in Bangkok, and his protagonist, amoral investigator Joe Roth, is memorable.
